![]() In my mind, Sublime Text can’t hold a candle to Visual Studio Code and Atom, just because it’s not free or open-source. Sublime is insanely fast, you can find plug-ins to do almost anything, the editor is free if you don’t mind the pop-up every now and then, and if you want to support the development then you can buy it and get rid of the pop-up. I used Sublime Text for a couple years before. once in awhile the editor freezes during usage.Atom’s startup time is noticeably slower than other text editors.Slow when compared to Sublime Text 3 and Visual Studio Code.Really easy to use, if you’re coming from Sublime Text.I used it for a while until now, and it is really easy to use, and get the feel of the Atom if you’re coming from Sublime Text. I waited more than 20 seconds to launch Atom for the first time. When I opened a project of mine inside Atom, I had a good impression of the user interface. TextMate has become the defacto standard for syntax highlighting and (big surprise) Sublime Text also uses. 2.Atom is a complete clone of Sublime Text. VS Code uses TextMate format to describe the text. ![]() If you're thinking about switching to VS Code, quickly finding keybindings and your favorite extensions makes for a smooth transition and a more manageable learning curve. Being an Electron-based app, VS Code can feel slower when compared to native editors such as Sublime Text and Vim, which open, load, and search files and projects more quickly. VS Code makes a few tradeoffs between performance and other features. VS Code Key Criteria: biggest ecosystem means more developers adding to value over time Otra gran diferencia entre Visual Studio Code y Sublime Text es el soporte que proporciona Microsoft en comparacin con Sublime Text. You can expect a bunch of new features and improvements in the next year, which are all documented in the public roadmap. Sublime Text, en cambio, es slo un editor de texto, y uno muy bueno, porque se centra en ofrecer la forma ms rpida de organizar y escribir el cdigo, pero sin capacidad para probarlo (depurarlo). This text editor has a Python application. The community of developers dedicated to building extensions and expanding VS Code is remarkably robust VS Code had the most contributors of any project on Github in 2017. You can use a Sublime text editor as an IDE or integrated development editors like NetBeans or Visual Studio code. VS Code makes it easy to find, research, and install extensions straight from the editor's marketplace. Sublime Text, on the other hand, is just a text editor (albeit an excellent one) because it focuses on providing the quickest way to organize and write your code, but no ability to test (debug) the code. VS Code offers around 8,000 extensions, owing to its fast-growing community of contributors to its ecosystem. Visual Studio could be classed as an integrated development environment (IDE), because it allows programmers to both write and test code. As a result, searching across an entire codebase and discovering new extensions is easier and more intuitive than searching in Atom or Sublime. Microsoft has done a great job of creating a powerful and flexible cross-platform editor that's piquing a lot of interest from developers. It was only released last year (April 2015), but it has already been picking up a lot of traction. The activity bar provides quick access to these features, in addition to a search tool and a shortcut to the extensions marketplace. Visual Studio Code (VSCode) is a relative newcomer to the world of text editors. Coming out of the box as a smaller installation, VSC is in the neighborhood of Sublime Text, Atom, and even Text Wrangler, offering much of the same. VS Code's dominance is reflected in its title as the most popular developer environment, according to the Stack Overflow's 2018 Developer Survey: Visual Studio Code, on the other hand, is much more text editor-driven and offers customizations through plugins to craft a selective development environment for the developer. As a result, with the right combination of features, VS Code has shown what it takes to win the code editor wars. VS Code's feature-rich yet straightforward user experience and powerful extensibility have overshadowed some of its obvious flaws. Over the last three years, however, Visual Studio Code has rapidly grown its user base, built out a powerful developer ecosystem, and upended the code editor status quo. With so many options available, many of them free and open source, it's an incredibly competitive product space. Since the launch of Microsoft's Visual Studio Code, the code editor wars have really been heating up. The unfolding code editor wars and Microsoft Visual Studio Code's rise to the top Notepad++ and Vim continue to maintain large but slowly declining user bases.Atom's GitHub integration and hackability have been challenged by VS Code's extensibility.Sublime Text wins for performance for large projects.Visual Studio Code has used user experience and extensibility to become today's top code editor.
